Datec (Fiji) and Australian Pacific Management & Training (APMT) signed a historic joint venture on 9th January 2026, to combine their resources and work as a team to energize Fiji’s ICT sector and create much need jobs for the skilled Fijian youth.

The occasion marked more than the signing of an agreement — it marked a shared commitment to take Fiji forward in education and employment. The formidable market presence and strength of Datec (Fiji) combined with APMT’s international standard training and education would create the right pathways for Fiji’s younger generation, giving them world class education and a bright future in their chosen field. Fittingly, the occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. Steve Chand, Chairman FHEC and Ms. Ambalika Devi, Foundation Executive for ATH, two of the most prominent persons known for their commitment to Fiji’s future.

What this means for Fiji

Through this partnership, Datec (Fiji) will facilitate the delivery of IT courses and training by APMT and offer internship to the young graduates. Internship with Datec (Fiji) will provide valuable real-world experience to young students and enhance their chances to secure employment with Datec (Fiji) and other IT companies in Fiji.

APMT’s collaboration with Datec (Fiji) is firmly anchored in Fiji’s future workforce needs and long-term national aspirations. APMT is working closely with Datec (Fiji) to understand the evolving demands of the local and regional ICT labour market and, on that basis, is designing and developing unique, future-focused courses that will prepare young Fijians for 2030 and beyond.

In words of APMT General Manager Dr Manpreet Kaur, “Through this joint venture with Datec (Fiji), we are not simply delivering standard IT qualifications; we are creating programs that align with the future of work in Fiji. By embedding structured internships, mentoring, and project-based learning into our programs, we are ensuring that every graduate has both the academic foundation and the hands-on experience needed to transition smoothly into meaningful employment. This is how we intend to support Fiji’s ICT workforce pipeline towards 2030 and well into the future.”

Practical significance of the partnership

Today’s youth deserve more than formal education. They need to be job-ready not only in skill but also in their understanding of business and aligning with international best practices. The agreement between Datec (Fiji) and APMT provides the right framework to ensure our graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and exposure to make their mark in the job market.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vinit Nand, CEO Datec (Fiji) said, “They say it takes a village to raise a child. It’s time our students got access to facilities and support other than quality education to prepare themselves for the world out there. Datec (Fiji) is proud to partner with APMT and ramp up the speed of the progress in digital transformation in Fiji over the last couple of years, keeping up with the swift technological advancements and of course give back to the society which has given us so much.”

Dr. Renjith Joseph, Chairman APMT, couldn’t agree more, “Datec is a big success story from Fiji with operations extending to Australia as well. They will play a critical role in helping our students gain invaluable experience by working in the dynamic Datec environment and become the professionals every company would be keen to work with. We are aware that Fiji National Digital Strategy 2025-2030 has set ambitious targets to take Fiji forward into the digital world, including creation of 40,000 ICT jobs across various sectors. This joint venture couldn’t have happened at a better time,” he said in his speech.

Datec (Fiji) and APMT would like to thank their teams and supporters who worked for months to make this joint venture possible and give the Fijian youth the combined advantage of two industry leaders.

APMT & ATS start a new partnership

Companies specialising in aviation services know that inflight catering is probably the most significant part of flying experience for travellers around the world. Now as the region’s premium Aviation Ground Handler & Catering Provider, Air Terminal Services (Fiji) Pte Ltd (ATS) is all set to take their catering service standard to a whole new level.

ATS and Australian Pacific Management & Training AAPMT) signed an agreement which will see the ATS Catering Services team receive training from professionals from AVM Hospitality, Australia (APMT in Fiji is part of the AVM Group). At the signing ceremony held in Nadi on 13th January 2026, both parties emphasised their commitment to quality in their respective areas of specialisation.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Steve Chand, Chairman of FHEC, who continues to play a key role in shaping a more progressive and future-ready Fiji through his leadership.

Speaking on the occasion, Manager Catering Services ATS, Mr Raj Naidu said, “We all know that international-standard training delivered by experienced global professionals can significantly enhance the performance of airline catering teams. We are positive our collaboration with APMT is the start of a journey of constant improvement for our team, enabling us to compete with the world’s best.”

The Chairman of APMT Dr. Renjith Joseph stressed the need for mutual commitment by ATS and APMT to achieve consistently good results, “World class training influences all aspects of the business. By strengthening consistency and operational efficiency, while also building workforce capability at both operational and supervisory levels, our training deepens practical skills aligned with global compliance standards.”

The long term benefits of such a collaboration go beyond technical skills. Professional training also results in a stronger quality mindset, clearer supervision, and better coordination across kitchen and logistics functions, leading to fewer errors, improved audit outcomes, and greater confidence from airline partners. With the first training batch to commence in February 2026, both ATS and APMT are all set to start a new chapter in catering services management in the Fiji aviation industry.
